When I noticed that BIKE had begun making men’s thong underwear, I was intrigued. Until recently, I was only familiar with BIKE as a manufacturer of old school jockstraps and had never associated the name with modern fashion, so I was interested to give the BIKE Active Thong Underwear a try. It did not disappoint.
Thong Specs
The BIKE Active Thong Underwear is one of the company’s newest styles. It’s made from a soft 91% Modal / 9% Spandex blend for an extremely soft yet durable fabric that’s suitable for any athletic activity. The BIKE website advertises the fabric as being naturally breathable, sweat-wicking, and quick drying. While not as effective at moisture wicking as the Jockey Sport Stability Thong, it still does the job extremely well. I suspect that BIKE is attempting to find a middle line between comfort and durability and in this area, they succeed. This thong also features a 1.5″ waistband which is soft and comfortable, yet also quite supportive.
Thong Comfort
The BIKE Active Thong is one of the more comfortable thongs I’ve tried. While the fabric isn’t as soft as thongs such as the Jack Adams line of thongs, it’s soft enough to feel comfortable all day, yet durable and supportive enough to be perfect for an active lifestyle. I’ve worn this thong while running, working out, and even just for a day at the office. It’s supportive in all the right ways while still gently draping itself on the torso in an unobtrusive way that makes it feels like a natural extension of the body.
The front pouch is the perfect size for someone like myself who is of average size. Those with a larger front package may prefer either a larger size or perhaps a different thong altogether. That said, for me, a 155 pound male who is 5’7″, has a 32″ waist, and a muscular physique, a large fits perfectly.
Thong Style
One thing I love about the BIKE Active Thong is how it effortlessly straddles the line between fashion and function. It hits on all of the key points for what’s needed in a thong for an active and athletic lifestyle such as support, simplicity, and durability, yet it’s also fashionable in a way that’s rather conservative (for a thong). It offers clean, classic lines that mimic a more traditional brief, but with less coverage, a clean and sleek look, and without the over-the-top styling that can be found on some of the more flamboyant men’s thong styles. The athletic styling of the BIKE Active Thong give it a more masculine feel and look than many other men’s thongs, and I appreciate having the option to wear a thong that feels more sporty, conservative, and masculine.
Summary
The BIKE Active Thong Underwear is a great option for the active and athletic male, or for anyone who wants to wear a thong with a more conservative look. While the front pouch may be too small for some people, it is well suited for anyone of average size or less. It offers excellent support, and the soft fabric hugs the body effortlessly. I already own two pairs of this thong, and I’m looking forward to adding more to my underwear drawer soon.
