When Wearing a Thong Stopped Feeling Weird

When I first started wearing thongs, I was extremely self-conscious about it. In fact, I think some of that self-consciousness was part of the thrill.

There was something exciting about putting on a piece of underwear that felt completely different from anything I had worn before. I was very aware of the fact that I was wearing a thong. I wondered whether it was noticeable, thought about how it looked, and occasionally caught myself thinking about what other people might think if they somehow knew.

That feeling made wearing one feel like a bigger deal than it really was. Over time, something changed. The excitement didn’t necessarily disappear, but the self-consciousness gradually did.

At first, I couldn’t stop thinking about it

One of the strangest things about becoming accustomed to thongs was realizing how much mental energy I used to spend thinking about them.

Even something as simple as going to bed could make me conscious of what I was wearing. I’d lie down in a thong and be constantly aware of it. Instead of simply going to sleep, part of my brain would be thinking about the fact that I was wearing a thong.

Eventually, that changed completely. Now I actually find thongs extremely comfortable for sleeping. Once I put one on, I don’t spend the night thinking about it. It just feels like underwear.

In some ways, that’s probably the clearest sign that wearing thongs has become normal for me. Something that once occupied a surprising amount of my attention is now something I barely notice.

I also love the support

Another thing that has helped change my perception is realizing just how much I enjoy the way a well-fitting thong feels.

For me, one of the biggest advantages is the extra support. A good thong holds everything securely without the excess fabric of traditional underwear. When I find the right combination of size, pouch, material, and cut, it feels incredibly comfortable.

That’s something I didn’t fully appreciate when I first started wearing them. Initially, I was focused much more on the fact that it was a thong. Eventually, I became more focused on how it actually felt. And for me, it feels good.

Getting older has changed my perspective

I also think getting older has played a role. The older I get, the less I care about what anyone else thinks about my choices. That’s true in a lot of areas of life, and underwear is no exception.

When I was younger, I could spend a lot of time wondering whether something I was doing was unusual or whether someone else might judge me for it. Now, I’m much more likely to think, If I like it and it works for me, why should I care?

That’s probably one of the biggest reasons wearing a thong stopped feeling weird. At some point, I stopped seeing my underwear choice as something that needed to be justified. It’s just what I like to wear, and what my wife likes to see.

Wearing a thong 24/7 changed everything

The biggest turning point for me was spending months wearing thongs essentially 24/7. That experience completely changed my relationship with them.

When you wear something occasionally, it’s easy for it to continue feeling like something different or unusual. But when you wear it every day, it becomes part of your routine.

I would wake up in a thong, get dressed in a thong, go about my day in a thong, and go to sleep in one. Eventually, there was no particular moment when I was consciously deciding to wear a thong. It simply became what I wore. And that’s when I realized that the weirdness was mostly in my head.

The more consistently I wore thongs, the less I thought about wearing a thong. That period of wearing them around the clock helped me make the transition from “I’m wearing a thong” to simply “I’m wearing underwear.”

There’s a big difference between those two ways of thinking.

Now it feels completely normal

Today, wearing a thong doesn’t feel like a statement, it doesn’t feel daring, nor does it feel like something I need to think about. It just feels normal.

I still enjoy the feeling of wearing one, and there’s still something I find appealing about the style. But the constant awareness that I used to have is gone.

Looking back, I think that’s one of the most interesting things about becoming comfortable with thongs. The underwear itself didn’t really change. I changed.

I went from being extremely conscious of wearing a thong to barely thinking about it at all. And somewhere along the way, something that once felt unusual became one of the most natural and comfortable things I could wear.
